FOVUS- ED: Focused Vascular Ultrasound to Risk Stratify Patients with Suspected Ischemic Chest Pain in the Emergency Department.
The CINQ is collaborating with Emergency Room physicians Drs. Steven Brooks, Rob Brison, Marco Sivilotti, and Joseph Newbigging to develop a new bedside ultrasound test specifically for patients presenting to the emergency department with chest pain (SEAMO award, 2016). This preliminary pilot study is in preparation for tri-council funding, and will provide important information in preparation for a larger-scale study, that if shown to be successful, has the potential to transform how patients with chest pain are managed by reducing the time to diagnosis, the need for further follow up testing, and by improving ER wait times and overcrowding.
