Virtual Histology and Molecular Environment of Atherosclerotic Plaque by a Novel 3D- Guided Ultrasound Tool for Atherosclerosis Risk Detection (VANGUARD Study)

Reem is a MSc student in the Translational Medicine Graduate Program through the Department of Medicine. Reem’s research examines the histological and molecular validation of a novel 3D ultrasound-based tool, called Intelliplaque, in identifying vulnerable atherosclerotic carotid-plaque features.The correlation of ultrasound imaging with identified plaque biomarkers will allow the identification of the “vulnerable patient” and guide management decision with respect to early intervention. Reem’s research is supported by a TIME grant.
